Mrs. Doris L. Hunt

Mrs. Doris L. Hunt, 93, of 608 Leefield Drive, Petersburg, Virginia transitioned from this life on Wednesday, March 02, 2022 peacefully at her home under the care of Crater Community Hospice. She was born April 28, 1928 in Surry County, Virginia to the late Mamie and Wesley Robinson. Doris attended Petersburg Public Schools, Petersburg, VA and graduated from Peabody High School in Petersburg, VA. She retired from Crater Juvenile Detention Home, Prince George, VA after 28 years as their Head Cook. She was a member of Zion Apostolic Christian Memorial Temple, Petersburg, VA. She enjoyed Sunday School under the teaching of Mother Nellie Wright and others. Doris loved and enjoyed cooking for others. Many of Zion's members have been invited to her table for scrumptious and delicious meals. Doris also had a passion for gardening, her lawn in the neighborhood was evident by the manicured lawn, flowers and vegetables over many years. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph Edward Robinson and Alfonso Dan Wooden; two daughters, Gloria Jean Robinson and Jacqueline Moore; son, Earl Robinson; son-in-law, Charles Branch; two granddaughters, Monica Yeager Harper and Chara Branch Graves. She is survived by her only daughter, Gail Branch, Petersburg, VA; four sons, Dana Hunt (Brenda), Atlanta, GA, David Hunt (Sharon), Hampton, VA, Terrence Hunt, Dillwyn, VA and George Hunt, Petersburg, VA; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great- grandchildren; devoted bonus daughter, Hilda Dailey; devoted friends, Eva Merritt and Thurdell Dent; a host of nieces, nephews, too numerous to name, please forgive us, and of course her Zion Family. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Zion Apostolic Christian Memorial Temple, 1601 Youngs Rd., Petersburg, VA, Dr. Suzie Wright, Pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park, Petersburg, VA. The service will be live streamed.
