Ms. Lakiesha Bellamy

It was a glorious day on Friday, July 13, 1973, in Newport News, Virginia when Renita Michelle Lassiter Howard and Robert Estes were blessed with a bouncing baby girl, six pounds and fifteen ounces, LAKIESHA LASHAWN BELLAMY. On November 24, 2016, Thanksgiving Day, God called her to his heavenly home. Lakiesha known as “Kiesha” was surrounded by her mother, Renita Howard; sister, MeMe Thompson; children, Kieyana, Ka’Von, Ke’Ondre, Ke’Monti Bellamy, Alicia Terry and her grandchildren, Khyrie and Kylee Bellamy. Growing up on the streets of Landsdown in Youngstown, Ohio and then in Hampton, Virginia, Kiesha was well known for her sense of humor and her contagious smile. She was an inspiration to others as well as a great friend. She was a team mother for Hampton Cavaliers. She also had a great love for her children and their sports. Throughout her lifetime, she always brought cheer to everyone she met. In 1992, Kiesha graduated from Hampton High School. As an avid sports fan (a die heart Red Skin's fan), she was a member of the Hampton High School Track Team. On many of her jobs; especially, Target and as a Security worker, she met many loyal friends. However, she found her true passion in being a bus driver. She began her career with MV Transportation as a Para Transit Driver. At an early age, Kiesha accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Friendship Baptist Church. In July 2001, Kiesha transferred her membership to Rising Star Christian Church, under the leadership of Elder Clifton C. Lassiter. The scripture, “A Friend Loveth At All Times” (Proverbs 17:17) can be related to Kiesha’s life. She will always be described as a woman full of life, who loved spending time with family and friends; a woman who was an encourager, even though she was fighting a battle; and a woman who brought cheer to all she met. Kiesha held a special love in her heart for her children and grandchildren. In spite of her illness she was always there for them. In addition, she had a love for her family and was always available for them. Even when her body was wretched with pain, one could depend on Kiesha to visit family and spend time with them. She was preceded in death by Welton Thompson. Those who will continue to celebrate her life include her children, grandchildren, mother, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, grandmother and a host of family and friends. She will truly be missed by her Aunt Linda Lucas, who she called “Mom"; her cousin, Brother Leonard (Boo) Lassiter and her cousin, Sister Latoya Lassiter Tatum. A special thanks to Tanaya Pittman Moore, who was more than a friend, confidant, and Sista-Friend. Tanaya was her Angel here on Earth, and in any situation, she was always there for her. Also, a special thanks to Ronesha McSwain, who played the role as her nurse. Ronesha helped her mother when she had to work and attend church. Last but not least, a special thanks to Shelita McCullerses, Stephanie Gay and Vivian Moss, who faithfully stood by her side as well.
