Mr. Barrie Rodgers Porter

Mr. Barrie R. Porter, 49, brother of Ms. Donna Wilson and Ms. Tina Porter, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2017, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. O grave, where is thy victory? I Corinthians 15:55 God peacefully called Barrie home on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. Because of Jesus death on the cross and His resurrection, Barrie has won the victory and he is resting peacefully in the arms of Our Savior. Thank you Jesus for conquering death and the grave. Thank you Lord for giving Barrie the victory with his new body. His earthly body may have given him some trouble but his heavenly body is perfect! Barrie Rogers Porter was born on February 25, 1967 to the late George Fitzgerald and Carol Perter Grimes (Still living). He was educated in the Chesapeake Public Schools graduating from Western Branch High School. Barrie worked as a security officer in various organizations throughout his life. He also managed a large Christmas tree lot every year in Hampton Roads. Many people enjoyed the way in which he managed this lot and viewed it as a noteworthy accomplishment. He was a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Barrie served in many roles. He was a son, brother, uncle, nephew, significant other, and special friend. Barrie's most important role was a servant of our King Jesus. Barrie gave his life to Christ as a child. Those who know Barrie would describe him as a man who became acquainted with the power of God and one who understood and used the power of prayer. Barrie was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church. Barrie has also been described as a thoughtful person, an excellent provider, and a lover of his family. Although Barrie loved all of his family, he had a special love for his mother and siblings. Barrie was preceded in death by his father George Fitzgerald; his paternal grandfather, Solomon Fitzgerald; and his maternal grandmother, Anna Porter. Fond memories will remain with his mother, Carol R. Grimes of Indiana; two sisters, Donna "Vickie" Wilson of Indiana and Tinera "Tina" Porter of North Carolina; one brother; Clarence "Man" Grimes III of Virginia; one grandmother, Maebel Fitzgerald of Virginia; a very special significant companion, Johnique "Bay Bay" Smith, her two sons; Christian and Samon of Virginia; two nieces, Jade Wilson and Laynia Grimes; two nephews, Josiah Wilson and Markel Grimes; a previous stepfather, Clarence Grimes Jr.; aunts, Anna Porter Sumner of Virginia, Lucille Porter of VA, Dorothy Overton of Virginia, Joyce Anne Johnson of Virginia and, Sharon Harold of Virginia; uncles, Donald Porter of North Caroline, Willie Porter of Virginia, Calvin Porter of Virginia, William Porter Sr., of Virginia, Bernard Porter of Virginia, Leon Fitzgerald of Virginia and Dashcell Fitzgerald of Virginia; many very special cousins; and many special relatives and friends.
