Mr. Cecil Byron Morgan

On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, our hearts were saddened by the passing of our loved one as he entered into eternal rest at his residence in Disputanta, Virginia. Cecil Byron "Pop" Morgan was born on January 26, 1952 in Wakefield, Virginia to the late Lawrence and Dorothy Morgan. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Pauline Brinkley, Larry Morgan, Wayne Morgan, Ronnie Morgan, Jacqular Stith, Vanessa Claiborne, Xavier Morgan and two step-sons, James Kevin Hill and Jarvis Lee Hill. Cecil was educated in the Sussex County Public School System. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Vietnam. Although he was a disabled veteran and struggled throughout his life, he still found a way to drive trucks, work in construction, and perform other odd jobs. He was an avid baseball fan. He spent years as an Empire for the Virginia Central Baseball League. Cecil leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife, Mattie M. Morgan of Disputanta, VA; two step-daughters, Jean Hill-Atkins of Prince George, VA and Joycelyn Rhone of Waverly, VA; one son, Russell Hill of Disputanta, VA; twelve grandchildren, Jameka Hill, Diesha Adams (Kevin), Robert Irving, III, Johnny Vega, Kevin Hill, Jasana Briley, Ja'Nyus, Diamond, KaNaisha, Ja'Kyus Hill, Italy Jackson, and Jewel Spratley; three sisters-in-law, Brenda Morgan of New Jersey, Donna Williams (Larry) of Disputanta, VA and Yvonne Morgan of Atlanta, GA; two brothers-in-law, (devoted friend), Herman Reese (Valanda) and Robert Claiborne of Petersburg, VA; three aunts, Barbara Ritchwood of New Jersey, Gwen Brown and Vestine Miles of Wakefield, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, among them a devoted nephew, Xavier Brinkley, friends, Alvin Drumgoole, James "Duke" Judkins and Larry Davis. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 20, 2021 at Tucker & Fisher Celebration of Life Chapel, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA. Rev. Bobby Ricks, Sr., officiating. Interment will follow on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at the Albert G. Horton, Jr., Memorial Veterans Cemetery, 5310 Milners Rd., Suffolk, VA. Public viewing will be Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 12:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M.
