Mr. Clarence Wallace Ricks, Sr.

God saw the road was getting rough The hills hard to climb He gently closed his loving eyes And whispered, "Peace be Thine" His weary hours, his days of pain His weary nights have passed His weary, patient, tired frame Has found sweet rest at last. On Friday night, October 17, 2020, at his residence, God's angel came and quietly slipped beneath His wings our dearly beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Mr. Clarence Wallace Ricks, Sr., was the seventh of nine children born in Sussex County, Virginia to the late Charles L. Ricks, Sr. and Nettie B. Ricks. Clarence joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Ivor, VA at an early age. He was educated in the Sussex County Public School System. He worked at Atlantic Waste Disposal, Sussex County, VA, until he became disabled. Clarence, known to many as Trixie, loved baseball and was an avid baseball player. He enjoyed watching baseball, football, and basketball. He also loved spending time with family and friends. Clarence's love for his family, his sense of humor, teasing others and smile will always be remembered. He was very protective of his family and would do anything he could for them. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather, Euclis Colbert; brothers, Raymond, Charles and William Ricks and sister, Larsene Ricks. Clarence's memory will always be cherished by a loving wife, Angeline Ricks of Wakefield, VA; loving son, Clarence Ricks, Jr. (Toccara) of Chesterfield, VA; loving daughters, Irhonda, Larsene, Lacoura and LaKeia Ricks all of Wakefield, VA and Lasonya Johnson of Petersburg, VA; two granddaughters, T'Asijah Vaughan and Zaire Ricks; loving sisters, Liz Gamble of Virginia Beach, VA, Joyce Whitney (Harvey) of Suffolk, VA, Carolyn Barnes of Virginia Beach, VA and Linda Lyons (James) of Prince George, VA; six sisters-in-law, one devoted, Margaret Eley; six brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, two devoted, Bobby Ricks (Lorraine) and Ronell Johnson, cousins and friends, three devoted, Carrol Stith, Freddie Stringfield and James Turner. He left a beautiful memory And sorrows too great to be told, But to us who loved and knew him, His memory will never grow old. A Drive-In Celebration of Life will be held 1pm, Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 38070 Rocky Hock Rd., Wakefield, VA, Rev. Leslie L. Holloway, Jr., Pastor and Rev. Bobby Ricks, Eulogist. Interment will follow at Booker T Memorial Park, Wakefield, VA. Public viewing will be held Friday, October 23, 2020 at Tucker & Fisher Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA from 10am - 8pm. Service will be live streamed. A face mask/covering will be required and social distancing will be practiced while attending all viewings and services.
