Mr. Clifton Bernell Mason

Mr. Clifton Burnell Mason, 69, transitioned from this Earthly Life on Sunday, November 7, 2021. He was born on February 15, 1952 in Dinwiddie, VA to the late Thomas Jackson and Dorothy Ruth Bailey Mason. Clifton (Cliff) as we all called him, was a well-known member of the community and loved by everyone that knew him. Clifton was educated in the Petersburg Public School System and also attended the Job Corps. He was self-employed and was a jack of all trades. He would perform work regularly at the junk yard of his dear friend, Mr. Russel of Russell's Junk Yard for many years. Cliff enjoyed working on cars and fixing them as he did for everyone. He also worked on houses and was very good at it. He was very creative, self-taught you might say. Clifton was a loving and loyal person, always willing to help others. Cliff was an avid Marital Artist. He was great at it and loved karate movies. He also had a great love for animals. Along with his parents, Clifton was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon Mason and Randolph Mason and four sisters, Gracie Dabney, Sandra Mason (Tootie), Janet Parham and Christie Lynn Mason. He leaves to cherish his memory two sisters, Thomasine Mason of Petersburg and Margie McKelvey of Dinwiddie; one brother, Heath Mason of Petersburg; eight children, Cynthia Kershaw of New Jersey, Linda Kershaw Booker, Dominic Mason, Jahquence Jackson and Khamari Jackson all of Petersburg, Iyonna Thorne of Michigan and Shawn Davis of Florida; ten grandchildren, Akillah Manson Graves (Dominique), Ta'Keila Kershaw, Gorman Booker, Jr., Sanovah Thorne, Shawn Davis, Jr., Nyasia Davis, Seleena Davis and his newest due to arrive on March 15, 2022 will be Egypt Seline Mason; five great-grandchildren, Dania House, Dasani Graves, Dominique Graves, Jr., Kartel Miles and his newest due to arrive Feb. 14, 2022, Cartier Lasure Cade; loving girlfriend, Veronica Crenshaw, devoted friends, Moo Moo Cartier, Michael Kershaw, Clifton Jackson, Cynthia Morgan and Mr. Brown; dearly devoted ex-wife and best friend for 50 plus years, Theresa Kershaw Wyche; ex-mother-in-law, Mary Muckle; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He also leaves cherished memories of his grand-dog, P. Nut. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Tucker & Fisher Celebration of Life Chapel, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA. Public viewing will be Friday, November 12, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M.
