Ms. Cynthia Denise Hunter

Cynthia Denise Hunter was born on October 28, 1959, at Whitaker Hospital in Newport News, Virginia, to Amie Olivia Hunter (Newby) and Alton Eugene Croslin. From an early age, she displayed a vibrant spirit and a heart full of compassion, qualities that would define her throughout her life. She received her education in the Newport News and Hampton public school systems and graduated from Pembroke High School. After graduation, Cynthia made the courageous decision to serve her country by joining the United States Army. She served with honor and pride for eight years—four stationed in Germany and four at Fort Belvoir in Fairfax, Virginia. Her time in the military instilled in her a deep sense of discipline, purpose, and service that continued throughout her life. Following her military career, Cynthia began her work in the dental field as a dental assistant. She was known for her steady hands, warm demeanor, and unwavering dedication. Over the years, she worked alongside respected professionals including Dr.Eatman, Dr. Gallop, and Dr. Robinson in Hampton, Virginia. The latter part of her career was spent at the Norfolk Naval Clinic, where she continued to care for others with excellence and empathy until her health declined in 2020. Although Cynthia never had children of her own, she poured her love into the lives of her nieces and nephews, embracing them as if they were her own. Her nurturing spirit, protective nature, and joyful laugh were constants in their lives. She also had a deep love for animals and cared for several beloved pets throughout the years, each one held tenderly in her heart. Cynthia was preceded in death by her father, Alton Eugene Croslin; her sister, Michelle Dionne Wilson; her cousin and brother in spirit, Calvin McNair; and her cherished fur babies, Sheba, Bud, and Rutherford. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service. Her memory will forever be treasured by her mother, Amie Olivia Hunter (Newby); her devoted nieces, Cynise Wilson and Rémy Wilson (Damain), her beloved nephew and godson, Benjamin Barrett III(Cindy); and a host of great-nephews who brought light to her life: Nasir Wilson Jones, Kamri Barrett, Damain Barber Jr., Kairo Barrett, Kylen Barrett, and Rylo Barber. Two very special cousins, Sharon Hunter and Peter Augborn, also survives her and will hold Cynthia close in her heart always. Cynthia's life was one of quiet strength, enduring love, and unwavering generosity. To know her was to be touched by kindness. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
