Mrs. Ellen Lorrine Briggs

God in His infinite wisdom rolled back the curtains to call His sweet angel, Ellen Lorrine Briggs home to be with Him on Sunday, January 17, 2021. She entered eternal rest at Bon Secours - Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. Ellen was born March 7, 1934 to the late James O. Moore, Sr. and Jeanette Melissa Moore and was a native of Dinwiddie County, VA. Ellen attended Dinwiddie Public Schools. She worked for Washington Enterprise for 36 years. She was a member of Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Petersburg, VA. She enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Soap Operas, Gospel Programs and she loved listening to 104.7 FM. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Briggs, Sr.; daughter, Katherine Briggs; sisters, Doris Giles, Melissa Carter, Margaret Coleman; brothers, James Moore, Edward Lee Moore, Benjamin Crawley Moore; grandsons, Jessie Hairston, Jr., Mario Briggs, Harold Moore, Jr., Shaun Moore and great-grandson, Na'Jay Hairston. She leaves to cherish her fond and precious memories ten children, devoted daughter and son-in-law, Annie D. Clark (James), devoted daughter, Evangelist Mildred A. Hairston, Janet Briggs-Anderson, Christine Briggs, devoted son, Harold L. Moore, Sr. (Sharon), Jerome Briggs, Sr. (Shavon), Gerald Briggs, Sr., Raymond Briggs, Walter L. Briggs, Jr. and Wayne Briggs (Michelle); devoted grandsons, Jerome Briggs, Jr., Ellis D. Briggs and Gerald Briggs, Jr.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; devoted sister, Mary Coleman; sister-in-laws, Anniebell Moore, Virger Briggs-Neal and Alice G. Moore; brother-in-laws, Aaron Neal, Thurman Briggs and James Briggs; along with a host of nieces, one devoted, Burnetta Bell; nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, among them devoted, Paula Rice and Joycelyn Weaver. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, January 25, 2021 at the Tucker & Fisher Celebration of Life Chapel, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA with her daughter, Evangelist Mildred A. Hairston eulogizing. Interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park, 7324 Church Rd., Petersburg, VA. There will be no public viewing. The service will be live streamed. A facial covering along with social distancing will be required.
