Mr. Ellis Lamons, Jr.

Ellis Lamons Jr. age 64, was born on October 16, 1958, to the late Ellis Lamons Sr, and Lillie Mae Majors Finnie in Hollis, New York. Ellis received his education in the Flushing New York School System. He completed up to the 11th grade when Ellis stopped going to school and joined the Army National Guard. Ellis served in the National Guard from 1976-1982. Ellis was no stranger to hard work. After his time in the National Guard, he became an armored truck driver a job he use to speak of often. Ellis has always had a huge love for cooking. He showed his love for people by having cookouts outs and family dinners. For the rest of his working career, he was in the Food Service Industry. That was a major part of his life. Ellis was employed at KFC where he met his wife Diane, Old Country Buffet, Cracker Barrel, and Applebee's, and lasted until his health wouldn't allow him to work anymore on Langley Air Force Base at Raptor Café which he retired from after 14 years Ellis married Diane Thomas on July 7, 2007. In Ellis's spare time, he loved to listen to his oldies but goodies, cook on the grill, watch westerns, and old movies, and make people laugh at his jokes with that larger-than-life sense of humor. It was nothing for one of his songs to come on and he would stop the car to get out and start dancing in the street. Ellis also loved to watch football. He was a huge New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars fan Ellis transitioned peacefully on March 1, 2023, surrounded by his wife and loved ones. In addition to his parents, Ellis was preceded in death by his brother Clarence Lamons, stepfather John Finnie and maternal grandmother who he called mom Francis Hayes and a devoted sister-in-law Sharon Perez. Ellis leaves to cherish in his memory his loving wife of 15 years Diane; children Tanisha Culbert, Dee Dee Barnes (Gregory), Jamell Lamons, Jalanda Lamons (Justin), Lionel Thomas Jr. (Amber), and Crystal Thomas (Carlton), and 15 grandchildren IshaKia, Tia'Mari, Jahmique, Arriyah, Jaliyah, Mel'layah, Tavion, Kamryn, Mauricio, Akari, Jayceon, Malachi, Rakym, Ayana and Aloni; great-granddaughter Kylee; 3 sisters Carletha Cole, Felicia Brown, and Shauna Finnie; brother in laws Thomas Payne (Roben), Raymond Perez Sr, Fidel Perez (Jozette); mother in law Gertrude Perez and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and loving friends.
