Mr. Gerald Burrell

In loving memory of Gerald L. Burrell, a kind-hearted soul who touched the lives of all who knew him. Jerri, as he was affectionally known, was born on July 31, 1950, and was promoted to Glory on October 26, 2023, at the age of 73, leaving behind a legacy of love, empathy, and compassion that will forever be cherished. He was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Morrison Church and Food Pantry for many years, actively participating in various roles, including his significant contributions as a missionary and valuable member of the Men's Ministry. Jerri received his secondary education in the Gloucester public school system and held professional roles as a manager and event planner throughout the Tidewater area. With a warm smile and a gentle demeanor, he had a remarkable ability to make everyone around him feel valued and loved. Jerri was a devoted son, father, brother, and uncle. He was always there to lend a helping hand to family and friends, offering words of wisdom and encouragement. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was a true hero and dedicated US Army veteran who served our country with honor, courage, and distinction. Jerri selflessly committed his life to defending freedom and protecting the values we hold dear. Jerri's true passion lay in sewing and drawing, and his first love was creating exquisite afghans that he lovingly bestowed upon others. Jerri made a positive impact on countless lives. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. Jerri was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Gertrude Burrell; son, Linwood Burrell; brothers, Alexander Burrell, Jr.; William Burrell and Wayne Burrell, and a sister, Angela Lee Burrell. He leaves behind two brothers, Charles (Delphine) Burrell of Gloucester, VA, and Michael Burrell of Newport News, VA. Four sisters, Gwendolyn (James) Bennette of Hampton, VA; Karen (Floyd) Bailey of Shawboro, North Carolina; Althea (Jose) Albert-Santiago of Shiloh, IL, and Yvonne (Jerry) Anderson of Las Vegas, NV, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. In the wake of this profound loss, let us remember the cherished memories we shared with Jerri and hold them close to our hearts. Though our grief may be heavy, may we find solace in the knowledge that Jerri's spirit will forever shine brightly, guiding us through the darkest of days. As we bid farewell to a beloved soul, may we find strength in the legacy of love and kindness Jerri leaves behind, and may his memory be a blessing to us all. Rest peacefully in God's loving arms, Jerri, knowing that you are deeply loved and will be eternally missed. The family of the late Gerald L.
