Mrs. Kim "DaQueen" Elaine Monroe, 57, of Petersburg, Virginia, peacefully traded in her silver tiara for a crown of gold on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Bon Secours - Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. Kim Elaine Monroe was born on February 1, 1964 in Richmond, Virginia to Ernestine Harrison and Herman "Curly Top" Ward. She attended Petersburg High School and graduated with the Class of 1982. Kim loved her family with all her heart and soul. If you knew her, then you knew how much she enjoyed a cold Pepsi, her Salem Lite 100's, spending time with her grandkids and family, watching her beloved Dallas Cowboys, and being a comedian in her own right. Kim was very instrumental in the community and directed the Petersburg Trojans Little League, Petersburg Wave Middle School Football, Petersburg Boxing, Petersburg Lions Baseball & Football, and Blandford Community Center. She was preceded in death by her brother, Curlenzo Stith of Baltimore, Maryland and her best friend in the whole wide world, the Shirley to her Lavern, the peanut butter to her jelly, her confidant, her road dog, but most importantly her sister, Michelle Harrison-Davis. Kim is survived by her amazing husband of 30 years, Gerald "Roe Roe" Monroe of Petersburg, VA, who affectionately referred to her as "Mrs. Lady" and cherished the ground she walked on; the daughter that she didn't birth but she's hers, Malaka L. Spriggs whom she'd turn the world for; her daughter, her pretty black and love of her life, Ebony Dillard; her son who could do no wrong in his mother's eyes, Rashad "Lil Man" Dillard; Mema's favorite girl, Jaela Jones whom she's always adored; her grandchildren, the apple of her eye, her big momma, Ayanna Walker, her favorite boy of them all, Dwayne "Esai" Thomas Jr., Teon Harris, Conye Jackson, Rashad Dillard Jr., Lamarii Jones, Jaden Dillard, Xavier Dillard, and Elijah Dillard; her mother, Ernestine Smith (Walter) and father, Herman "Curly Top" Ward; godmother, Carolyn Spriggs-Claiborne; siblings, Christine Edmonds- McLaurin, Linda Garris, Brenda Harrison, Toni Brown-Turner (Brad), Clara Butts, Pamela Bland, Shawanda Finney, Rena Amos, Makela Beasley, Michelle Webb, Barbara Wilson, Danielle Davis, Paula Purifory, Darryl Green, Raheem Lyons, Jamel Lyons, Delvon "Pee Wee" Winfield; two brothers whom she cherished, George "Buck" Robinson (Michele) and Horace Brown; devoted sisters who adored their baby sister, Iona Givens, Patrice McDaniel (Trini), and Patricia "Ms. P" Harrison-Evans; brothers-in-law, Anthony Davis, Robert Monroe, George Monroe, and Lee Monroe; sister-in-law, Irma Monroe; a host of nieces, among them her dearest nieces whom she treated like daughters, Norzekia Harrison, Andrea "Cookie" Harrison (Shae), Shamilia "Candy" Harrison, Glenishia "Glenny" Pulliam, Tiffany Byrd, Denikia "Nika" Harrison, Copellia "CeeCee" Harrison, Criszia "Crizzy" Edmonds, Sierra "Si Si" McDaniel, Jalissa "Lisa Mae" Garris & the baby of the bunch, Trine' "Lil Kim" McDaniel; nephews whom she referred to as her neph-sons, Anthony "P-Nut" Harrison (Clanita), DeCarlos Harrison (Salina), Deron "Squirt" Davis (Kristin); great-nieces and great-nephews that she thought the absolute world of; along with a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends, among them devoted friends, Judy Brent, Cassandra Conover, and Glen Pulliam. A Celebration of Life will be held at Zion Apostolic Christian Memorial Temple, 1601 Youngs Rd., Petersburg, VA on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Dr. Antonio A. Tucker, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at Wilkerson Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. The service will be live streamed. Public viewing will be Friday, January 21, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Tucker & Fisher Funeral Home.
