Ms. Lisa Marie Jackson

Lisa Marie Cooke Jackson came into this world fighting for life as a two and a half pound preemie. She was born in Wilson, NC on June 26, 1965 and died peacefully in the presence of her loving family on June 19, 2022 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was a Trooper. Lisa was reared in Virginia where she attended Richmond Public Schools and was a graduate of New Kent High School. She also attended J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College and received with honor an Associate Degree from ECPI. Lisa had a successful career beginning in Administration at Richfood Distribution Center for many years and ending with 16 years with Maximus in Chester, Virginia. Lisa was a faithful member of the Prince George Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and loved sharing the Good News of a better world under the Kingdom of God. She was delighted to let you know that this life is only temporary while we wait for the reality of a Paradise earth. She had an innate appreciation for music. She loved to attend concerts and dance the night away. She was the one to call to organize a party. Her love of animals was apparent as she would rescue them in a heartbeat. She was a good friend to the end. Lisa was a problem-solver who would take on difficult and unwanted projects at work and around the house. She also managed her two brothers quite well. When together, she was in charge. Everyone will remember her generous smile. She was preceded in death by a son, Colby Randall Jackson; her father, Dr. Edwin D. Cooke, Jr. and sister, Cecile J. Cooke-Thompson. Lisa is survived by her son, Stephen C. Jackson (Shannon); grandson, Shai K. C. Jackson; her mother, Mary Ann Cooke; two brothers, Edwin D. Cooke, III and Charles D.J.W. Cooke (Tara); nephews, Anthony Thompson (Ingrid), Craig Cooke, Christopher, Sean, Michael and Victor Thompson; a devoted great uncle, Charles Carr and cousin, Everette Boston; great aunts, Dorothy Powell and Rossie Hawkins and a host of cousins, other relatives that she held dear. Lisa lived a fulfilling life as a mother, sister, relative and friend. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those she reached but never met. The family wishes to thank everyone for their prayers, condolences and gifts of sustenance, concern and kindness. Special thanks to Michelle Dent and David Harkess for being on this journey from the beginning to end, expending time, energy and advice every step of the way. Thanks as well to all the members of the congregation of Jehovah's Witness for all their love. Also, thanks to Dr. Elke Friedman and the staff of the Virginia Cancer Institute and Dr. K Singh Sahni and staff of Gamma Knife Surgery for their immeasurable skill, caring professionalism, compassion and support.
