Mr. Louis E. Williams

On Sunday evening, May 30, 2010, heavenly angels appeared to claim the soul of Louis Edward Williams. He was a native of Emporia, VA, born June 2, 1939. He fought a good fight, now gone from labor to reward. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar & Anna Tucker, three sisters, Helen Ferby, Lillian McDaniel, Rachel Tucker, a brother, Howard Tucker, and lastly his youngest grandson, Chandler Russell. Louis was educated in the Greensville County Public school system where he received his high school diploma. During his youth, he joined Antioch Baptist Church, where he served until moving to Newport News to seek employment at the Newport News Shipyard. He was married to Betty Williams and from this union, four children were born, Alfred, Angela, Sharon, and Dwight. Years later they divorced and Louis enlisted in the military. During his military service, he was recognized with numerous service rewards. He gave love another try and married Ms. Lillian. They spent many years together enjoying each other’s company but ultimately went their separate ways. Louis loved fishing, a good game of bid whist with his card buddies, wrestling, and America’s football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He was a fierce competitor and took home the “1st place” trophy in a Bid Whist tournament. He also loved shopping thrift stores for the “ultimate bargain”. His garage and utility shed were filled with “treasures” from his shopping excursions. His memory will be cherished by his children Alfred (Darlene), Angela (George, Jr.), Sharon, and Dwight, his four grand-children, Joshua, Nicholas, Jonathan, and Jourdyn, devoted nephews, Michael Ferby, Elonzo Ferby, Donell Tucker, and Steven Hatchett, special nieces, Carrie Tucker, Juanita Gray, Angelina Ferby, Elaine Tucker, and Whitney Tucker, two aunts, two uncles, a devoted cousin, Julian Williams, two devoted friends Bruce Scott, Clarence Alexandra, a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing will be held from 12 noon until 6:00 pm on Friday, June at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Chapel of the M.E. Fisher Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 11:00am on Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
