Mrs. Pamala D Lucas

Pamala Deneen Wade (née Hutchings), affectionately known as Pam, passed away on July 21, 2024, at the age of 59 in Newport News, VA. She was born on July 22, 1964 at the Naval Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA and spent her early years as a young adult there. She also spent a short time in Milwaukee before making Newport News her home. Pam's educational journey began at McDaniel Elementary and concluded at Bok Vocational Technical School, where she honed skills that would serve her well throughout her life. Pam majored in food service and cosmetology. After high school, she held several positions in the food service industry at well known Philadelphia establishments such as The Warwick Hotel, Le Bec Fin, and Famous 4th St Delicatessen. Pam's work in food service allowed her to touch many lives with her excellent culinary skills and nurturing spirit. Pam ultimately found a solid career as a data processor with AAFES Dan Daniel Distribution Center in Newport News. She demonstrated a steadfast commitment to her career until she retired with 21 years of service in January 2019. A woman of many passions, Pam found joy in cooking, fashion, singing, and dancing. While Pam was not a fan of the heat, she very much enjoyed visiting Virginia Beach. She also longed to return to Myrtle Beach where she had spent a special weekend with her sisters some years ago. Pam enjoyed people and attending family gatherings. She also developed a fascination with Mukbang and would watch her favorite Mukbangers on social media. Some of Pam's musical interests included Frankie Beverly featuring Maze and Gladys Knight. Songs known to be some of her favorites were Ron Isley's "Spend the Night" & Prince's "Diamonds & Pearls". Her love for these activities was only surpassed by the love she had for her husband and partner, Joseph F. Wade. Notably, serenading her soon-to-be husband at their wedding in 2012 as she came down the aisle. Described as a caring and kind woman, Pam was also known to be a "firecracker" when necessary, showing a spirited side that endeared her even more to those who knew and loved her. Pam is survived by her loving husband, Joseph F. Wade; her mother, Essie; Father, Walter; daughter, Michelle D.; sisters, Regina, Michelle, and Dorothy; granddaughter, Toni; and god-brothers, Cecil and Herman. She will be missed by her in-laws, John, Patrick, David, Willie, Tim & Saluted. Additionally, Pam leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins, who will miss her dearly. Her warmth and vibrant spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her biological father, Arnold Rivers, and stepfather, Fernando Dellior.
