Mrs. Pearl Lee Spratley

Mrs. Pearl Lee Spratley of North Chesterfield, Virginia, departed this world to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 22, 2022. She was born February 15, 1941. Pearl who was known by many and loved by all was a native of Hopewell, VA. She was educated in the Hopewell Public School System. Known for her beautiful spirit and classy style, Pearl worked for years at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Company until the company was forced to close its doors. In search of a new career, Pearl went on to work at Central State Hospital in Petersburg, VA for over 25 years until she retired. Pearl was a faithful servant who believed in the Word and teachings of the Lord as a member of the Arlington Road Church of Christ, Hopewell, VA. Pearl also believed in giving back to her community as a member of the Improved Benevolet Protective Order of the Elks Worldwide as a charter member of Radiant Temple #1200 where she held various positions within the local temple as well as the State and Grand Level. On December 17, 1960, Pearl married William, affectionately known to most as "Bae Bruh" Spratley and assembled a beautifully blended family of 7 children. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, William Lee Spratley; mother, Sarah Franklin; mother and father, Margaret Wilson and William Fletcher Robinson; brother, Albert Lee Alexander; son, William "Cakey" Reeves; son-in-law, Gary Stevens; grandson, Jamal Spratley and great-grandson, Diamonte' Clay. She was also preceded in death by her besties, Katie Jones and Julian Allen. Pearl leaves to cherish and carry precious memories six children; three daughters, Cynthia Stevens of N. Chesterfield, VA, Paulette Hayes and Toni George of Hopewell, VA; three sons, Christopher Spratley (Sandra) of Hopewell, VA, Michael (Zoe) Spratley of Manassas, VA and William "Chuckie" Spratley (Bonettal) of South Carolina; two sisters, Eloise Fitzgerald (Mickey) of Dayton Beach, FL and Susie Alexander of Washington, DC; one brother, Jessie Alexander of Richmond, VA; her "bonus babies", Quintin Lee, Manson Lee, Kim Lee and Wayne Outlaw; 21 grandchildren, Letitia, Robert, Shanika, Corey, Melody, Gary Jr., Tracy, Tracey "Mookie", Victoria, Marcy, Demetria, Taria, Hasan, Samiyah, Chasity, Toni, CeCe, Angie, OG, Steven and Erica; 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grand children. We can't forget her crew of special loved ones, Doris McMurray, Minnis Bailey, Louise Weaver, Matilda Beckett, Jackie Thompson, Novella Dennis, Catherine Washington and Velma Crenshaw and her bonus granddaughters, Nikki James and Chrisara "Tootie" Foster and her beloved song bird, Corey Crusoe. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Faith and Hope Temple Church of God in Christ, 1800 E. Washington St., Petersburg, VA with Dr. James Michael Crusoe of Arlington Road Chuch of Christ, Hopewell, VA officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Sinai Community Cemetery, Prince George, VA. The service will be live streamed. Public viewing will be Monday, January 31, 2022 from 12:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.
