Ms. Sarah Lee Orie

Ms. Sarah Lee Orie peacefully transitioned and gained her wings on Sunday, December 17, 2023, in Hampton, Virginia. She was born on April 26, 1945, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Hobert & Agnes McCready. She had one sister. She was married to the late Edward Leon (Cootney) Orie. She received her education within Newport News Public Schools System where she later was employed as a custodian. Ms. Orie relocated back to her birthplace in Baltimore, Maryland and at that time she was employed as a wellness chef preparing organic healthy foods. She had a strong interest in holistic health, healing, and cannabis. She was very adamant about organic lotions, soaps, body wash, mouthwash, vitamins, and herbs. She shared her holistic knowledge with others. Sarah did not have a noticeable smile, however, her smile radiated from the inside out. Her favorite place to shop was at the Baltimore market. Sarah's favorite food was crab cakes, and her favorite restaurant was Red Lobster. She loved to drink cherry Pepsi and she looked forward to eating dark chocolate on the weekends. She enjoyed watching the television shows Blue Bloods, Chicago PD, and Law and Order SVU. Ms. Orie was a caring, friendly, and loving person. She had an eccentric personality and was extremely immaculate. Back in the day, she was known as Ms. Shank, and she did not tolerate foolishness. Sarah was quick and on point, however, she was compassionate and full of love. She wore a long braid accompanied by a bandana, which was an expression of her African American and Cherokee Indian heritage. In addition, she made it known that she preferred to be addressed by her middle name, which was Lee. Ms. Orie leaves behind special memories to cherish by her two daughters, Denise "Nise" Orie-Smith (Michael Smith), Leslie "Nay" Orie; four granddaughters, Marika Jones, Benicia Roberts (Eric Roberts), Denise Smith (Lil Nisey), Jeronda Wilson, and grandson Micheal Smith II (Destiney Smith); and 13 great-grandchildren. Please join us in comforting the Orie family by uplifting them with your prayers. Dear Ms. Leslie Orie, I extend my deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of your mother, Ms. Sarah Orie. It is with a heavy heart that we learned of her passing, and our thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Ms. Orie was undoubtedly a cherished individual, and her presence will be greatly missed.
