Ms. Vivian W. Fauntleroy

Vivian Watts Fauntleroy was born on September 7, 1937 in Hampton, Virginia to Theressa and Ellsworth Watts, Sr. She was one of ten children, having seven brothers and two sisters. Vivian went home to be with her heavenly Father on July 8, 2017. Vivian was raised and lived in Hampton until she married Nathaniel Fauntleroy. Following their marriage, Vivian and Nathaniel relocated to Washington, D.C. To this union, two beautiful children were born, Nathaniel and Dianne. Vivian was employed as a paralegal secretary until her retirement. After retiring, she relocated to Hampton, VA. Vivian enjoyed serving, and was an active community activist. She worked diligently and was instrumental in having kindergarten classes extended to a full day instead of a half day in Washington, D.C. Vivian accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age. Sister Fauntleroy was a member of Takoma Park Baptist Church in Washington, D.C., where she sang in the Fellowship Choir and served on various committees. When she returned to Hampton, she became a member of First Baptist Church of Hampton, where she served with the History and Archives Ministry. Vivian loved to sing and write plays, and many of her plays were used in church productions. She also enjoyed writing for others and helping them improve their writing skills. At the time of her passing, Sister Fauntleroy was working on a historical writing entitled, “Sing Til the Power of the Lord Comes Down: The Evolution of Music and Arts at First Baptist Church of Hampton.” Vivian also loved gardening and decorating. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She took great pride in decorating her home for Christmas with an extensive collection of holiday ornaments. Children and adults alike looked forward to her beautiful Easter baskets, which she distributed each year. She dyed and decorated each egg, and put her special decorating skills to use for the baskets. Vivian, above all, loved her family and the Lord. She was a woman of great beauty, strength, determination and love. She will truly be missed. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, Theressa and Ellsworth Watts, Sr. and her brother, Ellsworth Watts, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her homegoing, a son, Nathaniel Latrell Fauntleroy; a daughter, Dianne Fauntleroy Bradley (James); three grandchildren, Justin, Jordanna, and Jae Anne Bradley, two sisters, Marie Watts Middleton (Thomas) and Anne Watts Johnson; six brothers, Claudius Watts, Frank Watts, Logan Watts (Patricia), Rozelle Watts, Ronelle Watts (Valerie), and Robert Watts (Juanita), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at 11:00am; at First Baptist Church of Hampton, located at 229 N.
