Mrs. Annie Perry Freeman was called home to receive her wings on January 14, 2021. She was born on July 9, 1924 to the late Ollie Perry and Madeline Richardson Perry. Although she was born in Sussex County, Virginia, she spent most of her life in Dinwiddie County and Petersburg, Virginia. Annie was baptized at an early age at the Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church, Carson, Virginia. After moving from the farm to the city, she began working at the Southside Virginia Training School until retirement. In her leisure, she enjoyed bowling, walking and watching Westerns on T.V. She also had a passion for watching Professional Bull Riding and was able to attend several live events. Annie had a love for traveling. She was able to visit forty-nine states in the U.S. to include Alaska and also Bermuda and many of the Eastern and Western Caribbean Islands. Along with her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her older sister, Ethel Perry Newsome; her brother, Roger Fenner Perry; a niece, Joan Newsome Galimore and nephews, Michael and Matthew Brown. Annie leaves to cherish her fond and precious memories one daughter, Valery Freeman Driver; her grandson, Christopher Driver, III; three nieces, Hazel Newsome, Gloria Newsome Elliotte (Doc) and Sherrie Brown; two nephews, Roger Brown (Adrian) and Kenny Brown; along with a host of other relatives and friends. A Homegoing Service will be held 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Tucker & Fisher Celebration of Life Chapel, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA with Rev. Joan Joseph officiating. Interment will follow at the Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 20800 Templeton Rd., Carson, VA. The service will be live streamed. Public viewing will be Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 12:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Tucker and Fisher Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA. A facial covering along with social distancing will be required while attending all services and viewing.
