Mrs. Carolyn Graves Stith

February 19, 1941 - February 10, 2022

Mrs. Carolyn Graves Stith, 80, formerly of Petersburg, Virginia, gained her wings on Thursday, February 10, 2022 in Chester, Virginia. Carolyn was born in Homeville, Virginia to the late Lawrence Edward Graves and Agnes Hunt Graves on February 19, 1941. She was educated in the Sussex County Public School System, Sussex, VA and graduated from Sussex County Training School, Sussex, VA in 1959. Carolyn was employed at the Southside Virginia Training School, Petersburg, VA as a Team Leader and retired in April 2004 with 30 years of service. She also worked yearly as a poll worker. Carolyn was a kind hearted person and would do anything for her family. She was a dedicated member of New Hope Baptist Church, Waverly, VA for 50 years where she served faithfully on the Hospitality Committee. She will be greatly missed by all who graced her presence. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Pernell Stith and brother, James Alfred Graves. She leaves the following to cherish her memory, two beloved sons: Darrell Stith, Sr. (Anita) and James A. Stith, Sr. (Shanley); five adored grandchildren: Gabrielle Stith, Darrell Stith, Jr., Danielle Stith, James A. Stith, Jr. and Nicholas Stith; one devoted sister: Londa Simmons; six sisters-in-law: Gladys Nevells, Mamie Hamilton (Art), Hortense Stith, Barbara Jones (James), Ruth Stith and Gloria Hill; one brother-in-law: Woodrow Stith; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friend, Ms. Mary Perry. Special thanks to Crater Community Hospice, the Home Health Nurses of Encompass Health Rehab of Petersburg and Ms. LaKita Whitaker. A Celebration of Life Service will be held New Hope Baptist Church, 18183 Old Forty Rd., Waverly, VA on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. Rev. Jameson McLaughlin, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park, Petersburg, VA. The service will be live streamed. Public viewing will be held at Tucker & Fisher Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. Final Care and Compassionate Services are being provided to the family by the professional staff of Tucker & Fisher Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA (804)324-5529.
