Deaconess Carrie C. Bonner

January 15, 1938 - April 21, 2022

God in His infinite wisdom, saw she was tired, so He called her out of the garden and back home to Him in Heaven. Carrie was a devoted servant of the Lord. God put His arms around this beautiful lady, gently closed her weary eyes and lifted her from this land of pain and sorrow to a home of peace and rest on April 21, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones in Prince George, Virginia. Carrie was born January 15, 1938, to the late George W. Coleman, Sr. and Leatha Coleman. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Samuel A. Bonner, Sr.; son, Sammy A. Bonner, Jr.; sister, Mrs. Annie Manson of Virginia Beach, VA and four brothers, Robert Lee Coleman, Benjamin Coleman, Nelson Coleman and George Coleman, Jr. Mrs. Bonner received her education in the Dinwiddie County School System, Dinwiddie, Virginia. She was employed by at the Fort Lee Army Base, Fort Lee, VA and retired from General Defense Supply, Richmond, VA after 30 years of faithful service where she received many accolades and awards. At an early age, she was baptized and joined the Olive Branch Baptist Church, Dinwiddie, Virginia and later moved to Prince George, Virginia with her husband and the love of her life. Together they joined Providence Baptist Church, Prince George, Virginia where she later became a member of the Senior Choir, Brenda M. Bonner Choir, Missionary Ministry and Deaconess Ministry. Carrie loved the Lord and praised Him through song, dance, and her service. She loved to travel and enjoyed cooking on Sundays and holidays. Although our hearts are saddened, we pause to give honor to Carrie's transition from her earthy life to her heavenly home. Family and friends rejoice that God allowed her to pass away peacefully in the comfort of her own home. She will be fondly remembered and forever cherished by her loving daughters, Carolyn E. Lewis (Pastor Calvin) of Petersburg, VA, and Jean A. Bonner of Prince George, VA; four sisters, twin sister, Mrs. Alice Parker (Charlie), Mrs. Betty Vaughan (Willie Lee deceased), Mrs. Diane Street (Charles deceased), and Ms. Leatha Winfield; brother, Mr. Emmett Coleman, of Pittsburg, PA; seven grandchildren, Sammy Bonner, Jr., Franklin Ross, Jr., Calvin Lewis, Jr., and Jawanna Townes all of Petersburg, VA, Sonya Bonner, Tonya Bonner, and Monica Bonner all of Virginia Beach, VA; and sister-in-law, Mrs. Rose Gee of Prince George, VA. Special recognition to her devoted friend, Mrs. Juanita Clark and niece, Ms. Audrey Gee, neighbor, Mrs. Sandra Holmes and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A Homegoing Service will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the Providence Baptist Church, 15901 Providence Rd., South Prince George, VA with Rev. Brian Walker, Sr., Pastor, officiating and Rev. Calvin Lewis, Sr., Pastor of Harrison Grove Baptist Church, North Prince George, VA, eulogizing. Interment will follow at the Bonner Family Cemetery, Dinwiddie, VA. The service will be live streamed. Public viewing will be Friday, April 29, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M.
