Eva Ramsey Brown of 8402 Holdsworth Road, Disputanta, Virginia departed this life Saturday, December, 19, 2020 at Bon Secours Southside Regional Medical Center, Petersburg, VA. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 24, 1948. Eva attended Philadelphia Public Schools and graduated from Simon Gratz High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Class of 1965. She worked at Stanley Blacker Clothing Factory for 13 years and then decided to further her education by attending Temple University School of Social Work where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S) in 1980. She proceeded to work as a Social Worker in Philadelphia, PA until she relocated to Virginia in 1987 and worked as a Social Worker with the Petersburg Department of Social Services until she retired in 1999. After she retired, she continued her pursuits in the world of business and was the president of several successful small businesses before her death. While growing up in Philadelphia she attended Daniel Temple Baptist Church. At Daniel Temple she was a dedicated member of the Youth Choir and Young Adult Choir as well as, Secretary of their Sunday School for several years. Upon moving to Virginia in 1987, she joined Loving Union Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her death. For a very brief time before her illness, she sang on the Adult Choir and assisted the Youth Director with various activities for the children. Her Loving Union Baptist Church Family continued to show her comfort and love throughout her long illness. Eva was a devoted daughter, granddaughter, sister and aunt to her family and friends, always helpful to each member in any way she could assist. She battled several illnesses over the past twenty years until she could no longer fight and went on to be with the Lord. Eva was preceded in death by her mother, Mary C. Gilchrist; her grandmother and grandfather, Eva and Benjamin Brown; and her two brothers, Ernest L. Brown and James Brown. Eva leaves to cherish her memory her sister, Corine E.G. Bailey, Esq. of Virginia; brother, John Brown of Pennsylvania: sister-in-law, Norma Brown of Virginia; aunt, Mary Tucker of Virginia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held 12 Noon, Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Loving Union Baptist Church, 16750 Loving Union Rd., Disputanta, VA with Rev. Dr. Sylvia Tucker, Pastor officiating and Min. Anita Squire eulogizing. Interment will follow at the Loving Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Public viewing will be Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 12:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Tucker & Fisher Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA with virtual viewing from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only a limited number of family members will be able to attend the service.
