On Sunday, February 14, 2021, our hearts were saddened by the passing of our beloved, Gilda C. Graves. Gilda was born in Petersburg, Virginia on May 10, 1963 to Delia Montgomery and Franklin Wiggins. Gilda was educated in the Petersburg Public School System and later attended John Tyler Community College, Chester, VA. She worked as a manager at Pizza Hut for many years. Gilda loved to cook and exercise her skills in the kitchen. She loved spending time with her family and playing with grandkids which gave her much joy. She enjoyed listening to music, especially Frankie Beverly & Maze and Pattie LaBelle was her favorite. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Jefferson; son, Jason Graves and aunt, Angela Wright (Ernest). Gilda leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted daughter, Tabitha Hunt (Brandon); two sons, Robert Chavis and Jermayne Goodson; mother, Delia Montgomery; father, Franklin Wiggins (Janie); devoted father who helped raise her, Ricky Montgomery; a special and devoted life partner, Nathaniel Manson; children in love, Monique Epps, Crystal Wilkins, Jay Epps, Keyana Manson and Cowarren Wiggins; two brothers, Reverend Larenzo Chavis (Erica) and Jerry Chavis (Phyllis); four grandchildren, Shatyia Roney, Jerrez Hunt, Mckenzie Jones and Elias Chavis; two godchildren; Latasha and MacDevlyn Manson; one aunt, Shirley Clark (Robert); two uncles, Robert "Bro." Chavis and Eugene Chavis (Elizabeth); a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends to include: Larenzo "LC" Chavis, Latoya Seymour (Gregory), Patricia Davis, Christina Brooks, Cynthia Archer, Rebecca Manson (Paul), Bertha Massenberg, Arlene Davis, Thelma Jarrett, Mya Anderson and all of her bonus children from Shadyside to West Petersburg. A special thank you to all of the doctors and nurses at Bon Secours - Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, VA for the compassion and care given to Gilda. A Celebration of Life will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Tucker & Fisher Celebration of Life Chapel, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA with Rev. Larenzo Chavis officiating. The service will be live streamed. Public viewing will be Friday, February 19, 2021 from 12 Noon - 8 P.M. A facial covering will be required while attending all services and viewings, along with limited seating for social distancing.
