Ms. Giovanna D. Poindexter (GiGi) of Petersburg, VA, gained her wings on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia. GiGi was born September 26, NONYA in Richmond, Virginia but lived majority of her life in Petersburg, VA. GiGi was life and joy at the same time. She was always the life of the party. She was funny, strong and always encouraging others. Gigi was a loving mother, sister, grandmother (GaGa), and friend. She was very ambitious. She was an entrepreneur and also received a degree in Medical Billing and Coding. She was very creative and she loved to decorate and design things. GiGi will continue to live on in our hearts, our memories and in spirit. Giovanna was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth B. Poindexter; father, Garland R. Poindexter; daughter, Desiree Moweta; sister, Eva (Edem) Ayoube; brothers, John J. Willams, Stanley L. Poindexter, and Robert E. Poindexter. She is survived by her five children: one son, Markco Stith; four daughters, Chyreal Stith, Inga Frost, Hijaze Frost, and Ayanna Moweta; seven grandchildren, Destani Stith, Deyoni Stith, Markayla Evans Stith, Kenzo Stith, Dimarco Stith, Khalil Stith, and Bella Frost; five sisters, Shirley A.S. Poindexter Dyer, Nadine Quick, Vanessa R. Marshall, Phelanisse Relaford, and Yolanda Mills; seven brothers, Garland R. Poindexter, Jr., Earl Poindexter Sr., Richard Poindexter, Herman Williams, Hollis Williams, Renaldii Dealfordii, and Delmah Poindexter; along with many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many special friends, among them Patricia Rives, Adolph Alvarado, Laura Kentish, and Annette Walker. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022 at 12:00 P.M. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 418 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA, Rev. Dr. Robert A. Diggs, Sr., Pastor. Her burial will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park, 1911 Birdsong Rd., South Prince George, VA. The service will be live streamed. Public viewing will be Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 10:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M.
