October 3, 1945 - August 21, 2020
Apostle Gloria Emilia Wheeler (Martinez-Reyes) of 4016 London Rd., Prince George, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 21, 2020 at Southside Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, VA. Apostle Wheeler was a native of Calidonia, Republic of Panama and was preceded in death by her father, Joaquin Martinez and her mother, Cecilia Reyes; her 2 sons, Beltram A. Gans Jr. (I) and Beltran A. Gans Jr. (II); her brother, Gilberto Jessie (Cholo) and her husband of 15 years, Dennis J. Wheeler. During her period of traveling across the world as a military spouse, Apostle Wheeler gave her life to Jesus Christ during an altar call at Maranatha Baptist Church in Okinawa, Japan and continued to serve the Lord faithfully throughout her life. Apostle Wheeler and her family arrived in the United States in 1981 (Fort Lee, Virginia) and soon found a church home at Praise Center Mission Church of God in Disputanta, VA (now Glory Multicultural Ministries) and grew in her calling and ministry under the spiritual nurturing of Apostle Haywood E. James. As a servant of Christ and having a heart for those who were needy and homeless in the community, the Isaiah 58 Center (Inasmuch Outreach Ministry) was birthed and afterward the Living Bread Outreach Ministries was given to her by God where she labored tirelessly without wavering to fulfill her calling under the oversight of Chief Apostle Deborah Burton of Living Word Of God Ministries in Petersburg, VA. Apostle Wheeler loved to minister to the needy and her passion was to touch the lives of those who had nowhere to go, and to those who had no one that cared. Many lives were touched and changed by the warmth and kindness she was known for, not of her own doing but because of the Spirit of Christ who resided within. Her motto was, "Only what you do for Christ will last." She leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy: her beloved children, Vielka Cecilia Gans Martinez and David Andres Gans Martinez both of Prince George, VA; her stepdaughter, Anutika Lloyd of Petersburg, VA; her grandchildren, Maurice D. Gans of Richmond, VA; Beltran A. Gans of Newark, Deleware; Angelo D. Gans and Kadisia M. Gans both of Prince George, VA and David A. Gans of Hopewell, VA; her great-grandchildren, Khalil Gans, Kari Gans, Angelo Gans, Demari Gans, Anasya Gans, Josiah Gans, Maurice Gans Jr. and Alexander Gan; two nieces, Ivette Jessie-Fischer and Mabel Jessie; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Apostle Wheeler had an immense love for the Lord, her family and her friends. She will be greatly missed and will forever remain in our hearts.
