Mr. Ira Franklin Hill

January 15, 1948 - March 16, 2021

Mr. Ira Franklin Hill, 73, formerly of Disputanta, Virginia but lived in Petersburg, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at VCU Massey Cancer Center Palliative Care Unit in Richmond, Virginia. Ira was born in Disputanta, Virginia to the late Mattie Wilson on January 15,1948. He attended Bessie H. Mason in Disputanta, VA. He worked as a detailer for Rountree Pontiac-GMC Truck Inc., Petersburg, VA for a number of years and detailed cars for formerly A.A. Tucker Funeral Home. Ira found joy in doing odds and ends jobs. Ira enjoyed fishing, watching his western movies. In addition to his mother, Ira was also preceded in death by his aunts, Janice Maria Hill, Beatrice Gilliam, Elsie Lewis and Mary Taylor and his uncles, Francell Hill, Jr., John Hill, Robert Hill and Earnest Taylor. Ira is survived by his daughter, Linda Smith of Disputanta,VA and son, Ernest "Linwood" Hord (Tiffany) of North Chesterfield, VA; grandchildren, DeCarlos Ellis, Deshawn Ellis, Lakisha Lewis, Damiaus Harris, Derrion Harris and Ty Harrison; great-grandchildren, Kamron Ellis and Khylee Neal; aunts, Barbara Mayes(Harold), Gloria Taylor and Lecolia Hil; uncles, James Hill(Rosalind), Raymond Hill(Carolyn), Richard Taylor and Mckinley Lewis, Jr.; along with a host of devoted family members and friends. Special thanks to the VCU Palliative Care Unit and the Team at Hospice of VA. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Tucker and Fisher Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA with Pastor Michael Wyche, pastor of Crystal Cathedral Ministries, Prince George, VA officiating. The service will be live streamed. Public viewing will be held on March 19, 2021 from 12:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. A facial covering along with social distancing will be required while attending all services and viewings.
