Mrs. Janet Doree Nicholson Bandy Garner Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Janet Doree Nicholson Bandy Garner daughter of the late Joe Smiley Nicholson and Dora L.Nicholson Thomas, was born in Paterson NJ, on May 6, 1963. She departed in eternal rest on July 23, 2022, surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her grandmother who raised her, Viola Woods, her son Russell De'Jeres Bandy, her older brother Joseph "Joe" Nicholson, and her God-Daughter LaKesha Marie Joyner "Bibbie". She was educated in the Hampton and Newport News School system. She attended the Job Corps where she received a trade certificate. She also went to nursing school and received her CNA license. She continued to live in Newport News where she met and married her first husband Joseph Bandy, where she also met and married her second husband Joseph Garner. Janet was a wonderful loving, caring daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, cousin, aunt, and godmother. She was also a great friend to many who have come across her path. She had a heart of gold and would give her all to you if you needed it. She enjoyed working as a CNA until she had to retire. She was the life of the party. She leaves to cherish her memories of her husband Joseph Garner, her three children son Jamar D. Nicholson of Newport News VA, her daughter Joannetta Nicholson Whiting ( Her son-in-law Corey) of Newport News VA, and her daughter Sharrell La'Nora Bandy of Newport News VA. Three sisters Joan Mullen of Maryland, Judie Ross of Hampton, Edwinda Carter (Bobby) of Hampton Va. Two brothers Willie Earl of Newport News VA, and Eric Thomas of VA. Ten grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, godchildren, and a brother from another mother Tiger. A Celebration of life will be held on July 30, 2022, at 12:00pm at M.E. Fisher Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A public viewing will be on July 29, 2022, from 12 pm to 5 pm. The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and gratitude. We assure you that our loved one is in a better and more accepting place. Please let your tears not be of grief but of joy. She will be greatly missed by us all.
