Mr. John Rayford Jones, Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

A time to be born: John Rayford Jones, Jr., affectionately known by his family and childhood friends as "June Bug". He was born November 4, 1948 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late John Rayford Jones, Sr. and Annie Elizabeth Knight. A time to serve: John always had a passion to serve. He joined the United States Army right out of high school. He served over 20 years, serving and protecting our country. After leaving the United States Army, John was employed at John Randolph Hospital where he was loved by his co-workers and friends. A time to love: John was preceded in death by his soulmate, Earlene Hunt McDougal, whom he loved dearly. A time to die: God quietly transitioned John home on Sunday, April 3, 2022 surrounded by his family after a short battle with lung cancer. A time to mourn: John leaves behind: sons, Jay Jonathan Jones and Tobia Rashad Hunt; special loved one, David "Dookie" McDougal; brothers, Horace Donnell Jones (Brenda) and Lathan L. Jones; sisters, Betty Jean Spears Hannah Jones, Patricia Ann Holloman (James), Geanna Maria Jones, Antoinette Jones (Terence) and Juanita Michelle Jones; grandson, Tobias Hunt; a host of nieces, nephew, cousins, loved ones and friends. A time to remember: A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, April 11, 2022 at Faith and Hope Temple Church of God in Christ, 1800 E. Washington St., Petersburg, VA, Bishop Herman Crockett, Pastor. Rev. Dr. Antonio A. Tucker, Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow at Bermuda Mnemorial Park, Chester, VA. Public viewing will be Saturday, Apil 9, 2022 from 12:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. The service will be live streamed.
