Mrs. Lillie Mae Hayes

January 12, 1935 - September 24, 2020

On September 24, 2020, the Lord in His infinite wisdom and love sounded His trumpet and called Lillie Mae Hayes (85) to glory. She was born January 12, 1935 to the late Thomas and Iva Wilkins. Lillie Mae joined St. Peter RZUA Union Church (Dinwiddie) at an early age and later joined Olive Branch Baptist Church (Dinwiddie), where she was a faithful member. She retired from Central State Hospital after many years of service. Lillie Mae loved her nail polish, lipstick, playing Bingo and solving word puzzles. Her strength and commitment to family was always evident as she showed love, compassion and devotion to all and always kept it real. Lillie Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Hayes, Sr.; sons, Bernard Hayes Jr., Clifton Leon Wilkins and grandson, Spencer Hepburn, III. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Charlotte Meredith (Calvin), Clara Hepburn (Spencer Jr.), Dr. Pauline Tonsil (Trumie), Brenda Hayes, Frances Talley, Joyce Hicks (James), James E. Hayes and Xavier Hayes; grandchildren, Derrickus Hayes (Latoshia), Quientierra Hayes, Chequita Fenner (Arthur), Damon Talley (Valecia), Erica Hobson (Micheal), Rashawnda Watson (Justin), Corbett Beverly (Latanya), Iva Wilkins, Gabriele Tonsil, Charlene Wyche (Clarence), James Meredith, Jr., Antonio Meredith (Marianne), Latedra Fulton (Morice), Stacy Hayes (Anita) and Bernard R. Hayes; twenty-five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one sister, Pecolia Thorpe of Petersburg, VA; four sisters-in-law; Rachel Lawrence of Steubenville, OH, Mary M. Hayes Shirley H. Yates of Dinwiddie, VA and Mary H. Hayes of Kenbridge, VA; devoted cousins, Blanchie Morris and Ralph Nicholas and devoted friend and caregiver, Margaret Edwards; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A Drive-In Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 P.M, Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Olive Branch Baptist Church, 11119 Boydton Plank Road, Dinwiddie, VA with Rev. Dr. Kevin Northam, officiating. Interment will follow at the Olive Branch Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be live streamed. Public viewing will be held Monday, October 5, 2020 from 10 A.M. - 8 P.M. at Tucker & Fisher Funeral Home, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA. A face mask/covering will be required while attending all services and viewings.
