Mrs. Rosa L. Scott

August 17, 1940 - May 2, 2022

Mrs. Rosa Lee Scott entered into heavens gates from this earthly life on Monday, May 2, 2022 surrounded by family at Bon Secours -Southside Medical Center, Petersburg, Virginia. She was born August 17, 1940 to the late Isiah and Estelle Wiggins of Petersburg, Virginia. Rosa completed her education at Southside High School, Class of 1958 and was an employee of Central State Hospital, Petersburg, VA until she retired. For many years after retirement, Rosa became a Tupperware Sales Representative and affectionately became known as "The Tupperware Lady". Rosa enjoyed being active in the community. She was a Girl Scott Troop Leader. Rosa also frequently volunteered at the Mary Carter Beacon House. Rosa was a longtime member of the YMCA where she loved to participate in aquatic classes. Rosa confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Petersburg, VA. Later, she joined The Greater Bethesda Bible Way Church, Petersburg, VA where she served as a faithful member until her health declined. On any given Sunday, Rosa served as a Missionary, Usher, Choir Member, and Sunday School Teacher. She loved planning events and special services for the ministry. In addition to her parents, Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, who was the love of her life, Joseph Scott, Jr.; son, Joseph Scott, III; sister, Mattie King; three brothers, Roy and Joseph Greene, and Paul Wiggins; and brother-in-law, James King. Rosa loved her family and found great joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She could always be found supporting loved ones no matter the occasion. Left to cherish her memories are: one devoted daughter, Belinda Gordon; daughter-in-law, Sharon Scott; six grandchildren, Lamont Williams, Gustavus Wyche, Sharie and Kyle Gordon, Martin and Jamesce Short; brothers, Isiah (Barbara Jean) and Emmitt Wiggins; two sisters-in-law, Florence Greene and Shirley Dexter; nephew/son, Leon Scott; nieces, Ruby Hobbs and Lisa Wiggins who also assisted with caregiving; several caregivers who became like family, Muriel Jenkins-Bey (Dinwiddie Health and Rehabilitation Center), Nannette Stevens, Shandrika Stith who also assisted as her caregivers; her best friend of many years, Ruby Epps; godsons, Keith and Kevin Lee; Southside High School Class of 1958; and a host of other relatives and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, May 13, 2022 at the Tucker & Fisher Celebration of Life Chapel, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA. Dr. Nikita Garris-Watson will officiate and Rev. Pinkie Hill will eulogize. Interment will follow at the Wilkerson Memorial Cemetery, Petersburg, VA. The service will be live streamed. Public viewing will be Thursday, May 12, 2022 from 12:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. Final Care and Compassionate Services are being provided to the family by the professional staff of Tucker & Fisher Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA (804)324-5529.
