He was the second of three sons born to the late Mr. and Mrs. William & Clarine Reese of Disputanta, Virginia. Sylvester was baptized at First Baptist Church of Disputanta, Virginia at an early age and continued to do the Lord's work in many capacities throughout his beautiful life. Sylvester was educated in the Prince George County Public School System. An exceptional school athlete, he graduated from Prince George High School with the Class of 1972. His educational pursuits took to Virginia State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business before starting his work career in the Richmond-Petersburg area. Even after a decade-long battle with Parkinson's disease, Sylvester's spirits continued to be high until the very end. He peacefully gained his heavenly wings on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. He was known for his kind spirit and heart. He endured his illness with amazing fortitude and strength, never complaining and serving as an example of dignity until he passed. Sylvester loved his family. In addition to his late mother and father, Sylvester was preceded in death by a caring sister-in-law, Valgeanette Reese; a nephew, Jermaine Reese and several devoted aunts, uncles, and other relatives with which he enjoyed a caring and loving relationship. He is survived by his loving wife, Nannie Woodson; devoted son, Anton Lamon Osborne Reese; two brothers, William Reese and Garry (Gwen) Reese; three stepchildren, Amy Woodson, Angenette Harris and Loyal Harris; great-grandson, Timothy Harris, Jr. (TJ); devoted cousin, Danny (Myra) Adams; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends that he loved and cherished. A Memorial Service will be held 12 Noon, Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Tucker & Fisher Celebration of Life Chapel, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA with Rev. Dr. Antonio A. Tucker, Sr. officiating. The service will be live streamed.
