Mr. Allison J. Hatchett

Allison Jermone Hatchett, the son of Mrs. Gay H. Turner, was born January 14, 1969 in Newport News, VA. He departed this life on December 21, 2016, surrounded by his mother, Mrs. Gay Hatchett Turner and fiancé, Amour Curtis. Allison “Poo” Hatchett had many names given to him by his close family: “Poo-Poo”, “Pooh”, “Man” and “Sock Hatchett”. “Poo” Hatchett was preceded in death by people who loved him beyond anyone’s imagination, his great-grandparents, Peter James and Martha Alice “Big Mom” Hatchett; grandma, Gladys L. Hatchett his saying to her, "Best Grandmother in the whole world”; his great-uncle, James Hatchett; great-aunt, Maglene Craig; and uncle, William “Bill” Hatchett. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Roshell “Ro” Yvette Hatchett in 2011. “Poo” graduated from Ferguson High School, Newport News, VA June 1987. He was known for the half court three point shot; Hampton Roads Boys & Girls Club (HOPS Celtics) and he also attended Boo Williams Basketball Camp. He graduated from Shaw University on May 10, 1992. After graduating, he was employed by the North Carolina Dept. of the Treasury. “Poo” went on to become co-owner of a night club for several years and later became General Manager of Office Max in Raleigh. “Poo” lived in Raleigh from college until April of 2016 after he became ill. His return home rekindled his middle school friendship with Amour K. Curtis. “Poo” was so loved and cherished by so many people, especially his Delta Gamma. He was initiated in 1994 and served as president. He was very fond of his Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Brothers. He leaves to cherish his memories and the lady he called “Mother”, Mrs. Gay H. (stepfather, John) Turner; two daughters, Nildjah McQueen, Rocky Mount, NC and Summer Faith Hatchett, Raleigh, NC, “His Sunshine", “Poo’s” only regret was not to be here to walk his baby down the aisle on her future wedding date; and big brother, Edwin Hatchett, Philadelphia, PA. His favorite aunt would say “that’s my boy” and “I love you and there’s absolutely nothing you can do ‘bout it”, Brenda Hatchett (James) McClain; uncles, Harold A. Hatchett and Scott L. Hatchett; special cousins, Lisa McClain, Sherrod Hatchett, Lisa McClain, Christel McClain; special aunt Martha H. “Aunt Duck” Hibbler'; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and friends.
