Mr. Augustus Calvin Brown, III

In life there are rare occasions where we have the wonderful privilege of encountering true unique individuals There are people God has graced with love and compassion, who are loved and respected by everyone that is blessed enough to know them. Augustus Calvin Brown, III was born June 2, 1955, in Newport News, Virginia, oldest son of Augustus C. Brown Jr. and Lovata Moss Brown. Augustus received his primary and secondary education in Newport News, Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1982 from Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University). He loved being graduate of Tuskegee because most of the times you would see him wearing a sweat bearing their name. His time at Tuskegee was marked by not only academic dedication but also active involvement in various extracurricular activities. Augustus forged lasting bonds with his fraternity (Omega Psi Phi) brothers and actively participated in campus events, which enriched his collegiate experience. His unwavering commitment to excellence shone brightly, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers and professors. After completing his degree, Augustus relocated to Los Angeles, embarking on a distinguished career in the Aerospace/Defense Industry. His expertise and innovative thinking earned him multiple patents and led to significant collaborative projects with NASA. Augustus' professional journey included impactful stints at Hughes Aircraft, Northrop Grumman, and TRW, where he left an indelible mark with his exceptional skills and dedication. In addition to his engineering career, Augustus was a man of many talents and passions. He became a certified paralegal, obtained his private pilot license, and took a keen interest in mentoring young minds. His hidden talent for mixing music, blending genres from gospel to jazz, added a unique flair to his multifaceted life. His custom-mixed CDs were cherished keepsakes among friends and family. Augustus' deep faith was a cornerstone of his life. He confessed Christ at an early age and remained a devoted member of both the Washington Chapel AME in Tuskegee and later the Brookins AME in Los Angeles, where he was guided by Reverend T. Larry Kirkland. Upon completing his degree, Augustus embarked on a remarkable journey to Los Angeles, where he built a distinguished career in the Aerospace/Defense Industry. His expertise and innovative contributions resulted in several patents and collaborative projects with NASA, highlighting his exceptional skills and dedication to his field. On December 20, 2024, his labor was rewarded. Augustus' pride rested in watching his son, Augustus C Brown IV, who he shares with ArmecoThomas, launch into adulthood. He especially enjoyed watching his granddaughter, Aaryn's gymnastics, and his grandson, Augustus C Brown V' sporting events and activities. His son, daughter-in-law, Nina, and his grandchildren meant the world to him. He is survived by his siblings, Maderia, Victor (Robyn), Wenda (Robert), Wendell, and James, nieces, Chelsea; Simone and nephew, Xavier and a special, goddaughter, Chandra. His legacy lives on in a wealth of family, special relatives, and close friends.
