In Loving Memory Of Beatrice (Bea) Parrish Smith Fenderson Sunrise Sunset April 7, 1922-March 23, 2024 Beatrice (Bea) Parrish Smith Fenderson age 101 of Newport News, Virginia peacefully transitioned on March 23, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew Raymond Smith and Elise Ellen Parrish Smith. She also was preceded by her husband James Wardell Fenderson, her siblings Edith Missouri Cobbs, and Margret Elizabeth Chapman, and her daughter Maryland Ann Jackson. She is survived by her children Betty Lou Adams, Dianne Elizabeth Neal, and Janice Staples Hicks. She was blessed with 8 beautiful grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren. She leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, and friends. She was always interested in being connected with the family and took great pride in them. Beatrice attended Huntington High School in Newport News. She worked in the cafeteria at Dunbar Elementary School and Sonnie's Inn as a waitress and cook and created their BBQ sandwich recipe. She later began her career at The Veterans Administration where she retired after 35 years. Her interests included crabbing, baking, and crocheting and she taught herself a lot of crafts that many of her family and friends have treasured for years. She was a great friend to everyone she met lending a helping hand whenever she could. The family wishes to thank the loving staff of Harmony Hospice Care in Williamsburg for their care, support, and compassion. She loved her caregiver Arnita Harris from Care Advantage and felt love every day. She will rest in the fact that she knows she was deeply loved by all of her family and friends. She was a charming, kind, compassionate, and genuine lady and will be missed greatly!
