Mr. David Ogburn

Mr. David Thomas Ogburn of Petersburg, Virginia, departed life's journey on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at his residence, 214 Apt 616, S. Sycamore Street, Petersburg, VA with his daughters at his bedside. He was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia to Herman Ogburn and the late Rosa Anna Ogburn. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend, Leaca Arnette Ogburn; mother, Rosa Anna Ogburn; grandparents, Charley Ogburn, Alice Ogburn, Thomas Harris, Sr. and Mary Lena Hargrove Harris; aunts, Bessie Mae Oliver, Arlena Walker and Clarkie Ann Walker; uncles, Alex Jr., Robert Lee Harris and Vance Harris. David accepted Christ at an early age. He was educated in the Petersburg City Public School System and later joined Job Corps and accomplished getting his GED. He worked for many years with W.S. Shand's Trucking Company. Heaven gained a special person, as "David" saw the magic in all things. He could make you laugh when upset. He viewed the world as it was and despite it's challenges, remained kind and free spirited and never complained. David was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Lakers. He enjoyed music (Nelly and Otis Redding his favorite), western movies and his greatest hobby was "FISHING". If you frequent the local rivers, you knew David Thomas. He loved entertaining his family and friends, singing and sharing the Legendary jokes of the Comedian Dolomite always with laughter and love. David was a bright spark in this world and will be deeply missed by so many. To know him was to love him. Mr. Ogburn is survived by his loving and devoted daughters, Davina Patterson of Prince George, VA, Yumbo Green (Jerome) and Josette Bynum (Larry); two sons, Shauniel Tyler (Kim) and James Tyler (Silvia); father, Herman Ogburn (Cynthia); two devoted sisters, Shirley Bonner (Alonzo) and Alberta Ogburn (James); two brothers, Christopher Tyler all of Petersburg and Herbert Tisdale (Alice) of Baltimore, Maryland; fourteen grandchildren, Daquann, Treyon, Alfredia (Emmanuel), Laquanda, Ryan, Katerra, Ceomas, Jayden, Quvontea, Jermaine, Dashawn, Jai-Nyiahh, Javion and Jace; four great-grandchildren, Isis, Carmen, Kamaree and Amir. David had a very special relationship with his nieces, Tammy, Gloria, Joyce-Ann and the late Rosa Jones and nephews, Tony "Pac-Man Jones and Edwin "Bo-Bo" Harris. He has a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends to include his lifelong friends, Gilroy Robinson, Lafayette Thompson, Russell Jones, Roynal "High Pocket" Pegram, Sr., Sonia Smith and the late Luther Potts all of Petersburg, Virginia. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Tucker & Fisher Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 Halifax St., Petersburg, VA. Interment will follow at Dinwiddie Memorial Park, Petersburg, VA. Public viewing will be Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 12:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.
