Mr. Earl D. Savage II

Earl D. Savage II, 57 was born March 30, 1962, in Newport News, Virginia. Earl was the 2nd child to Earl Delester and Jean Naomi Boswell Savage. He attended Hampton Public Schools, where he graduated from Bethel High School, class of 1981. During his school years he was always active in sports, including basketball, football, and track and field and excelled at them all. After graduation, Earl began working at the Newport News Shipyard, where he worked for several years. He gained additional training in HVAC, heating and air and began work as a maintenance engineer for several companies, with his last assignment at Fort Magruder in Williamsburg, which he enjoyed. Earl was a member of Carver Memorial Presbyterian Church and as a youth, member of the Westminster Fellowship. He enjoyed occasionally singing with the Men’s Choir and served as part-time Sexton at Carver. He also enjoyed working to assist the needs of others and contributed time working with the homeless. Earl was fondly called “Earl Clue” or just “Clue” by some of the neighborhood friends and family. In the years of his youth, he was a practical jokester and both of his sisters were often the recipients of these jokes both good and bad. He was often on the dance floor with both of his sisters and he sure knew how to cut a rug. Earl was preceded in death by his father, Earl D. Savage Sr., mother Jean B Savage, granddaughter, Aalazia Kylie Taylor, grandparents, Charles and Naomi Boswell and uncle, Charles Boswell, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Charlene Hill Savage, three children, Andrew Jameson Hill (Catlin), Amerson Lashay Hill Savage and Aaliayah Naomi Savage. Grandchildren, Tasia Marie Turner Hill, Gabrielle Whitley, Courtney Hill (Andrew), Sincere Nykeem Turner, Sekani Ayah-Marie Savage, (Amerson) Aiden King Harris, and Azalea Divine Savage (Aaliayah), two sisters, Shauna L. Savage, Joyce A. Savage, cousin/brother Shawn Royal Boswell, nephew Tre’ D Savage and great-nephew, Saige Savage, aunt and 2nd mom, Barbara H. Crump (William Crump), Karla and Mark (cousins), aunt, Blanche Henderson Lewis, cousins Andre Boswell, Sheila Chawlk and host of many relatives, friends, and loved ones. The family will receive visitors and friends on Friday, August 2, 2019, from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm at M.E. Fisher Funeral Home, 2117 Madison Ave., Newport News, VA 23607. A Homegoing Celebration will be held at Carver Memorial Presbyterian Church, 830 25th St., Newport News, VA 23607 on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at 1:00 pm.
