Mr Shiron Lamont Gilliam

Shiron Lamont Gilliam, 44, was born on September 22, 1975, and transitioned suddenly on Friday, May 15, 2020, in Newport News, VA. He grew up and attended schools in Hampton and Newport News. Shiron's work experiences included Candlewood Suites in Hampton and several local fast-food restaurants. Shiron was preceded in death by his father, Sam Hicks; his maternal grandparents, Walter J. Gilliam and Nancy Milo Gilliam; paternal grandparents, Leola Hicks, maternal uncles, Walter Gilliam, Leander Gilliam, and Anthony Gilliam; maternal aunt, Gail Whitehurst; paternal uncle, Jack Jones. He is survived by his loving daughter Asia Jayne Gilliam, mother Clara Marshall, brother Jamal Marshall, maternal uncles, Thomas Gilliam, Milo Gilliam, maternal aunts Nancy Whitaker, Charlene Gilliam, paternal grandfather Paul Hicks., Sr. paternal uncle Paul Hick., Jr., and Willie Jones; paternal aunts, Leola Williams, Priciilla Carr, and a host of cousins and friends. Shiron was affectionately called Red, Ron, and Shorty Man by family and friends. He enjoyed life and march to the beat of his own drum. He accepted Christ at a very early age and was baptized at Miracle Temple Baptist Church where his mother was an Evangelist. He knew and loved the Lord because he had a praying God-fearing mother who instilled the word in him at a very early age. Shiron loved his mother dearly and it was her prayer that kept him as he marched to the beat of his own drum. He was known for his speed and could outrun cars. Shiron was well loved and will be missed dearly. Shiron's drum has stopped beating and God has taken his shoelaces and said you finish your course and your race is over. Psalms 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
